Starting May, Myanmar Airways to fly direct from Yangon to Chennai, ET TravelWorld

Myanmar Airways International (MAI) has announced the commencement of direct non-stop flights from Yangon to Chennai every Saturday from May 6, 2023. This will enhance the connectivity between the two countries further after the existing connections to Delhi, Kolkata and Gaya.

According to the airline, the new connection will boost the leisure, MICE, VFR, corporate, labour and medical travellers with connections to Yangon and beyond to other international and domestic networks of MAI.

MAI will be operating on this route with Airbus A319/A320 or Embraer 190 aircraft once a week on every Saturday. The flight 8M 630 will depart Yangon at 0800 hours and arrive Chennai at 1015 hours. The flight 8M 631 will depart Chennai at 11.15 hours and arrive at Yangon at 15.15 hours.

Myanmar announces new terms and conditions for tourist visa applications

Under the new guidelines, tourists are required to provide a proof of full vaccination, a colour photo that was taken within three months and passport that is valid for six months to their visa application. As per the new terms and conditions, a visa applicant, who has children aged under seven on the same passport, is required to put the child’s name and birth date in the minor section of the application form.

As a part of promotional efforts, MAI is also offering a special one-way Economy fare starting as low as INR 22,907 and one way Business class fare starting at INR 47,840. MAI is a full-service carrier and offers three percent commission on basic fare to all IATA agents. MAI currently operates to 18 international destinations and 18 domestic destinations and has seamless interline arrangements with 34 carriers.

MAI is available on all leading GDSs like Amadeus , Galileo , Travelport for agents to make bookings and on all the major OTAs.

The airline in India is represented by STIC Travel Group as the MAI’s GSA for India, which is also providing competitive FIT and Group holiday packages for Myanmar.
