Vietnam witnesses rise in local airfares amid increasing demand this holiday season

Airlines have resumed international routes after the pandemic, but cannot increase domestic flights like in 2022 due to the need to balance manpower and aircraft, resulting in limited domestic flights and ticket prices being pushed up, local newspaper Vietnam News reported on Monday, citing Bui Doan Ne, vice chairman of the association.

Earlier, the airline had introduced non-stop service connecting Vietnam and New Delhi in June 2022. Later, effective March 26, it increased the frequency of operation on the route between Hanoi and New Delhi to four flights/week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays; between Ho Chi Minh City and New Delhi to three flights/week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with Airbus A321 to facilitate travel needs of passengers.Strong air network between the two countries has been one of the main reason for tourism growth for Vietnam from India. According to the last figures shared by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam received more than 109,000 Indian visitors in the first 11 months of 2022, This was at an average growth rate of a 49 per cent per month, making India one of its top five source markets.
