The Baltimore Ravens‘ star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, has swiftly exited the team’s NFL training camp after falling ill with the dawn of the 2024 season looming large on the horizon in September.
Jackson threw for 3678 yards and 24 touchdowns as he led his organization to the AFC Conference Championship game, where they were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs to the score of 17-10 at the Arrowhead Stadium, so his loss will be a concern for the Ravens.
It’s unclear what the illness is, but an NFL insider named Josina Anderson described the ailment as “pretty bad” as he withdrew from the preseason warm-up camp on Sunday, July 22.
The illness could be a concern and could impact the Ravens‘ start to the season, even if Jackson is available, as he may lose valuable time striking up a chord with his latest running back, Derrick Henry.
Henry joined the group in March after leaving the Tennessee Titans and despite being into his senior NFL years at the age of 30, he still rushed for over 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2023. In his career with the Titans, he covered 9502 yards for 90 touchdowns from 2030 carries through 119 games.
His recruit was a big addition to the Maryland-based side, that aims to finally win the Super Bowl for the first time since 2012 when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers 34-31 in the Battle of the Harbaugh’s, as the two fraternal coaches faced off.
Who do the Ravens play first?
The Ravens will kick off that bid for the Super Bowl with a rematch of their the AFC Conference Championship game against Patrick Mahomes‘ Kansas City Chiefs when the pair face off on Thursday Night Football on September 5, 2024.
The game will take place at the Arrowhead Stadium and will kick off at 20:20 ET/17:20 PT and will be broadcast by NBC.
