Former president of the United States and current presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has never hidden his love for sports and recently he has been linked to the NFL and the Buffalo Bills because of one special reason.
The Republican candidate attempted to buy the football franchise back in 2014, as he offered a strong amount of money to purchase the team and now it has become a topic of conversation. Donald Trump spoke on the matter.
“Not close. The owner who got it is a very good man. I think he’s done a great job. Well, he made a great pick – he picked a great quarterback in Josh (Allen),” he said during an appearance on the YouTube show ‘Bussin’ With The Boys’.
The money was not a problem
As everyone well knows, he is a wealthy man, and he was very serious about purchasing the team. He knew things were not going well in Buffalo and he tried to help a franchise and a fanbase that was in need.
“I bid $1billion and I put up a letter of credit. I thought I might get it because it was in Buffalo which was having some troubles… and (Pegula) bid $1.4billion, so it’s $400 million more,” he said.
“I don’t think it was a very serious run but I gave them a guarantee of a $1bn so that’s always serious, right?,” he added and one can only imagine if in fact Donald Trump would have been in the NFL more than with just occasional appearances on certain events.
