A recent poll conducted by J.L. Partners for DailyMail.com indicates that President Joe Biden is viewed more favorably than pop star Taylor Swift among Pennsylvania voters.
According to the findings, 48 percent of likely voters in the critical swing state believe that Biden better represents their interests, while only 17 percent feel the same way about Swift. The poll also found that 35 percent of respondents were unsure.
Biden’s roots in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he was born, provide him with a strong connection to the state. He later moved to Delaware, serving as a U.S. Senator there for 36 years. In contrast, Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, but left for Tennessee as a teenager to launch her music career.
As the 2024 presidential election approaches, Pennsylvania is anticipated to be pivotal in deciding the next president. Both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are investing significant time and resources to engage voters in the Keystone State. Bucks County, where Swift spent her early years, will be a key area to watch on election night.
Fame isn’t everything in politics
Despite Swift’s fame, polling suggests that Biden would be a more effective representative for Harris in Pennsylvania. James Johnson, co-founder of J.L. Partners, commented on the findings.
“Looking at these numbers, the best advice to Harris in Pennsylvania would be ‘more Biden, less Swift,” Johnson stated.
He emphasized that, although Biden faces his own challenges, he still resonates with blue-collar workers, particularly in northeastern Pennsylvania.
The poll results also highlighted significant differences among demographic groups. Among Black voters, Biden received overwhelming support, with 86 percent favoring him over Swift, who captured only 2 percent. Among white voters, 43 percent chose Biden, while 16 percent selected Swift. Current supporters of Kamala Harris also showed strong support for Biden, with 78 percent backing him compared to 15 percent for Swift.
Interestingly, a considerable portion of Trump’s supporters expressed uncertainty about the question, with 62 percent responding “don’t know,” while 19 percent chose Biden and 18 percent opted for Swift.
Swift publicly endorsed Harris shortly after the presidential debate on September 10 but has yet to make an appearance on the campaign trail. In contrast, Biden is scheduled to return to Philadelphia for a campaign event just three weeks before Election Day.
