There is no question that Aaron Rodgers is one of the most competitive athletes in the league, but even for him and with the pressure that represents to carry the New York Jets, playing three games in less than two weeks can be a struggle.
The signal caller is 40 years old and has recently acknowledge that even if he is really looking forward to playing as much as he can, specially after pretty much all season last year, this stretch for the team will be something to deal with as they will look to stay hot to win for a second straight week.
“Testing the body for sure. We love to play, so shorter time between games is great. But it’s definitely tough on the body, tough on the week,” Rodgers said after a walk-through practice Tuesday. “It’s easier for a guy who’s 20 than a guy who’s 40.”
He has a point, but a divisional rival is next
While it will not be easy to play against the New England Patriots, it is a big opportunity to get to 2-1 after dropping the first game of the season against the San Francisco 49ers and winning in Tennessee against the Titans. Jerod Mayo coached his team very well during the first two games.
Even if the Patriots lost their home opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Aaron Rodgers needs to be physically on point to play on Thursday night. “I’ll be ready to go Thursday night and then look forward to the three days off,” he added.
It’s true that it is early in the season, but the Jets have a lot to win as a victory will also send a message to the rest of the East and the whole AFC that they can be a feared team as the season goes on. Of course, that Aaron Rodgers’ health is something to keep on eye on as the games pass by but so far, he has looked good enough to lead the Jets to be competitive.
