Adam Schefter’s honesty on a recent appearance on Kevin Clark’s ‘This is Football’ podcast may have made waves on social media, but his wife Sharri Maio wasn’t all that impressed.

The NFL Insider made headlines when he revealed the weirdest place he’s ever broken a news story, stating he did so right after having sex with a woman in Denver where he was reporting on the Broncos at the time.

During a radio appearance on Wednesday for WEEI 93.7 FM, Schefter revealed that the appearance resulted in a text from his wife and several others.

“All day long I’ve been responding to texts about this, including my wife this afternoon,” Schefter laughingly said.

“My wife didn’t appreciate the story as much as other people, I’d say. I should point that out. Some people enjoy it – my wife, not as much.”

He didn’t go on to reveal what it is his wife said, but added while laughing: “I don’t know what to say … What do you want me to say?” 

Schefter also admitted he didn’t expect his words to garner so much attention.

“I said what I said, right,” he added.

What landed Schefter in hot water

Schefter caused a stir on social media with his honest answer for Clark, who asked his ESPN colleague what was the “weirdest place” he’s broken a news story.

“I can remember being in Denver one time,” Schefter said. “I was um … How do I say this? I had just spent time with this woman for the first time and got a text that [former Broncos cornerback] Dale Carter was being suspended for eight games for substance abuse.

“So, as I continued to lay there, confirm it, and got the job done Kevin – in every which way.”

Schefter later cleared things up by stating he broke the news “after” having sex with the woman.

At the time Schefter was a reporter with the Denver Post. He married his wife Sharri Maio in 2007, and they share a daughter, Dylan, 15. Maio also has a son, Devon, from a previous relationship.
