Bronny James is already experiencing an incredible amount of pressure simply for bearing the same name as one of the best NBA players in history. His name is LeBron James Jr. after all. Currently, Bronny is deciding if he will get to experience what it feels like to play in the league and maybe even next to his father. Making the decision to prefer being called Bronny instead of LeBron was for good reason, he wants to make his own story and try to avoid as much pressure as possible. Those who bear their father or mother’s name will know what Bronny is going through. In some cases, these people are proud to have their parents’ name but the situation is very different with famous athletes’ children. The pressure is insurmountable and quite real.
Would Bronny name his child after his father?
During the past week, many different questions have been asked to Bronny James that have mostly to do with that pressure of carrying his father’s name. But one journalist directly asked him about the name itself. That reporter wanted to know if Bronny would be willing to name his first-born son with the same name. He was quick to respond.Bronny didn’t even flinch. The question was, “If you have a son, would you name him LeBron James III?” Bronny simply said: “Absolutely not,” and laughed right after that response. Perhaps his father won’t appreciate this but then again, he doesn’t know the pressure that comes with being the son of a Top 3 All-Time NBA star.
If you don’t believe this pressure is real, simply take a look at Michael Jordan’s children in order to understand where Bronny is coming from. Marcus Jordan doesn’t even have the same name as his father and he wasn’t able to withstand the pressure that comes with being the son of arguably the greatest to ever do it. Although he is successful today, Marcus attempted to be a basketball player and he simply couldn’t cut it to bein the leagu. Whether Bronny James would fit well in the NBA or not is still to be determined. But we are watching him closely to see if he does.
