Whilst the NFL is excitedly anticipating the new season, there are other issues which are impacting some of the other players.
Christian McCaffrey is one such individual, who was forced to stand up for his wife, Olivia Culpo, on Tuesday after a fashion influencer harshly criticized her Dolce & Gabbana wedding dress on social media.
Stylist Kennedy Bingham posted a lengthy critique of Culpo’s long-sleeve ball gown, worn for her June 29 wedding to the 49ers running back in Rhode Island.
“There is no personality in this dress,” Bingham declared.
“Usually, wedding dresses have something of the bride injected into them, whether it’s a little bit of beading, some jewelry, detailing, something.
“This is just nothing, it’s the absence of personality.”
Bingham’s nearly six-minute TikTok video garnered two million views by Thursday.
How did McCaffrey respond to the criticism?
McCaffrey responded to Bingham’s post on Instagram, making clear his disgust at what the fashion critic had said about his wife’s dress.
“What an evil thing to post online. I hope you can find joy and peace in the world, the way my beautiful wife does,” McCaffrey posted.
Culpo also replied to the critique, as documented in a screenshot captured by Bingham.
“Wow what an absolutely evil person you are. I hope no one ever tears you apart in this way because it’s extremely hurtful. I love this dress, and it was everything I wanted and more,” Culpo stated.
In Bingham’s video, she also analyzed comments Culpo made in a recent Vogue interview.
Culpo explained that she didn’t want her dress “to exude sex in any way, shape, or form” and wanted it to be “as serious” as the “covenant” of marriage, something which Bingham took issue with.
“I just think the usage of the word ‘covered’ is so icky because you are not covered in day-to-day life, and also, why is he thinking you’re the most beautiful when you’re covered? That’s such an odd thing,” she said.
