Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. We can see this cycle in nearly every sport. When things go well, people often stop putting in the same effort, and performance drops. But when things go wrong, not many are willing to step up.
Something similar is happening to the Milwaukee Bucks. With a disappointing start to the season, having won only two of their nine games and currently on a six-game losing streak, it’s time for the players to turn things around.
A captain doing his job
The face of the team, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is the least pleased with this situation. He delivered a powerful message to everyone in the locker room, one that surely resonated with all his teammates. He believes that some players are hanging their heads, which he finds unacceptable.
“As a leader of this team, your head cannot be down. You can be frustrated at times, for sure. I’m frustrated. If you’re not frustrated with losing, get the f**k out of here. Simple as that. But at the end of the day, we have another one in two days. We’ve got to be ready,” Antetokounmpo said.
“We came to New York after playing great last night. Then we come here and lose by 30. Are we OK with not competing? I’m not OK with that. We’ve got Boston in two days. If we don’t compete, we’re going to lose by 30. Simple as that,” Antetokounmpo told reporters after the loss to the New York Knicks.
The Milwaukee Bucks need to make changes quickly if they don’t want to keep piling up losses. The team must come together, and the wins need to start coming soon. A team like the Bucks cannot afford to stay in this bad form for too long.
