Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s romance has captured the attention and the hearts of millions — people who love pop music, or football, or both. But while so many are overjoyed for the power couple amidst their year-long relationship, it has been argued that Travis‘ brother Jason is the happiest of all.
Jason, recently retired from the NFL after a stellar career with the Philadelphia Eagles, has taken up broadcasting and podcasting in retirement; his show with Travis, “New Heights“, is among the most popular podcasts in the United States and came under the Amazon umbrella earlier this year. But the most recent “New Heights” episode is proving a bit controversial over a comment about Swift, which could alter the next phase of Travis’ relationship with the “Lavender Haze” singer.
Jason needles Taylor’s fanbase
Jason and Travis welcomed legendary actor Bill Murray on the latest episode of their podcast, and Jason risked quick reprisal from Swifties with a “poison dart” fired in their direction.
Here is what happened. The “Ghostbusters” star Murray was describing a former acting teacher he once had, saying she was “one of those ladies that has like cats and everything she wears is purple“. Murray then said he didn’t know whether these kinds of people existed anymore — giving Jason the perfect jumping-off point for a devastating joke that referenced Swift’s beloved cats.
“No, they do, they definitely do,” he replied. “There’s a lot of them listening to the show right now actually.”
Fortunately for the Kelces, Swifties on social media took the joke in stride, many knowing just how supportive Jason has been of Travis’ relationship — and knowing that he too has grown close to Swift over the course of 2024. Most memorably, Taylor and a shirtless Jason braved harsh conditions in Buffalo during last season’s AFC playoffs, watching and celebrating from a suite as Travis’ Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Bills on their way to a second successive Super Bowl title.
