The Dallas Cowboys have found themselves at the center of trade speculation regarding their star edge rusher Micah Parsons, but team owner Jerry Jones has made one thing clear – Parsons isn’t going anywhere.
The Cowboys’ leader dismissed rumors about the two-time Pro Bowler’s future with the franchise, calling the idea of a potential trade “never uttered in this organization.”
Parsons, who is currently playing under his rookie contract, will become a free agent after the 2025 NFL season, though he is expected to negotiate a major extension this offseason.
With his performances on the field and his rising stature in the league, he’s set to become one of the highest-paid edge rushers in the NFL.

Jerry Jones shuts down trade speculation
In his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Jerry Jones directly addressed the swirling trade rumors.
“That’s never been uttered in this organization that we don’t have a future with Micah Parsons,” Jones declared.
This statement follows an earlier report by Ian Rapoport that hinted at internal discussions within the Cowboys‘ front office about potentially reevaluating how they allocate funds to their top-tier players.
Cowboys executive Stephen Jones reportedly suggested the team could rethink its payroll strategy, especially when it comes to paying players “at the top, top end of their position.”
Despite these reports, Jerry Jones‘s emphatic statement seemed to put the idea of trading Parsons to rest. Instead, the focus will likely shift to securing a long-term contract extension for Parsons in the offseason.
While there is always the possibility of hard negotiations when a player is seeking a new contract, Parsons himself has voiced his desire to remain with “America’s Team.”
During a conversation with ESPN, he expressed hope to play his entire career in Dallas.
“But man, at the end of the day, whatever it takes for me just to continue to be a Cowboy until I retire, that’s what I want,” Parsons told The Athletic’s Jon Machota.
“I know it’s going to be hard conversations and reality checks, but I think I’m a good enough caliber to be here.”
