Jerry Jones gives major clue on Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb contract updates

Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are two of the star names for the Dallas Cowboys, though their futures past this season have been a major talking point so far this summer.

Both men are looking for new contracts as they head into the final year of their deals. However, talks between the players and the Cowboys haven’t been productive so far, with the two sides reportedly far apart when it comes to money.

The fact that other players at their positions have signed new contracts this summer, raising their market values, hasn’t helped matters.

As a result there is an air of uncertainty surrounding the Cowboys and their star players, with owner Jerry Jones recently asked about the future of the two players.

“They’re just progressing, in my mind,” Jones said when asked about Lamb’s deal.

“I would say that we’re talking. I would not have a legitimate progress point there at all. And I really don’t have it for Lamb, either. And it’s not negative. I’m just thinking it wouldn’t do any good to talk about progress.”

When asked about whether one player was closer to signing a new deal than the other, Jones added: “Not necessarily. But I don’t want to talk about it.”

Lamb and Prescott in different situations

When it comes to Lamb, reports suggest he could sign a new deal in the coming days. He is expected to get a deal similar to the one that Justin Jefferson signed – a four-year, $140 million deal.

As for Prescott, all signs suggest that he will test free agency next summer. That’s because a new deal would likely make him the highest-paid player in the history of the league.

That new contract would see him earn close to $60 million, a figure the Cowboys likely don’t want to pay given Lamb will get paid and Micah Parsons needs a new deal soon as well.
