Jordan Poole doesn’t forget Draymond Green and adds fuel to the fire of their war with ugly gesture

The relationship between Jordan Poole and Draymond Green has been strained since their well-publicized altercation during a Golden State Warriors practice in 2022.

This tension resurfaced recently when Poole appeared to take a subtle jab at Green following the Warriors’ big loss to the Memphis Grizzlies.

On December 19, 2024, the Golden State Warriors faced a crushing 144-93 defeat against the Memphis Grizzlies. Throughout the game, the Warriors struggled to find their rhythm, with key players underperforming.

Green, a central figure in the team’s lineup, had a minimal impact during his 19 minutes on the court, contributing little to the team’s efforts.

In the aftermath of the game, social media platforms were abuzz with memes and critiques targeting Green’s lackluster performance. Poole, now with the Washington Wizards, subtly engaged in this discourse by liking a post that mocked Green’s performance.

This action did not go unnoticed, reigniting discussions about the lingering discord between the two former teammates.

The tension between Poole and Green dates back to an incident in 2022 when Green punched Poole during a Warriors practice session.

The altercation led to widespread controversy and was a significant factor in Poole’s eventual trade to the Washington Wizards in 2023. Since then, interactions between the two have been closely scrutinized by fans and analysts alike.

Stephen A. Smith’s critique of Jordan Poole

Adding to the narrative, sports commentator Stephen A. Smith recently criticized Jordan Poole for his on-court behavior during a game against the Boston Celtics.

“We all know he caused a little trouble in Golden State,” Smith said. “We know how Draymond responded to that, and ultimately how he couldn’t stay there any longer. So he gets moved… Gone from a champion [Warriors] to a team that since he has arrived… 70 games under .500 but you showboated. That’s why his a** is in the nation’s capital. And they’re doing how they’re doing.”

Poole attempted to taunt Celtics guard Payton Pritchard after a crossover move but missed the subsequent scoring opportunity.

Smith suggested that such antics reflect poorly on Poole’s professionalism and may have contributed to past tensions with teammates like Green.

When questioned about Smith’s comments, Poole dismissed them as inconsequential, referring to the critique as mere “barbershop talk.” He indicated that he does not pay attention to such opinions, focusing instead on his game and responsibilities with the Wizards.
