The Golden State Warriors were eliminated in the Play-In tournament after losing against the Sacramento Kings 118-94 last Tuesday. Following the defeat, questions loomed about the franchise’s future, and core pieces of their dynasty may leave the team in the offseason.
Klay Thompson, the other half of the ‘Splash Brothers, became an unrestricted free agent after the Warriors’ elimination against the Kings and is probably on his way out of the Bay Area. However, Klay does not want to talk about the issue, at least not yet.
Klay does not want to talk about the future
When talking to reporters, Klay Thompson evaded the question about his future and whether he will stay with the Golden State Warriors or sign elsewhere, per The New York Post.
Considering it’s April 17, I don’t think I have to pivot that quickly. When is free agency? July 1? Yeah, I got some time. I got some time. (My future with Golden State) feels obviously pretty unknown. Do y’all want to talk about the season first, or about the future?
Klay Thompson
Thompson has had a remarkable career with the Golden State Warriors, winning four NBA championships, being selected to the All-Star five times, and earning two All-NBA Third Team honors. He has also won gold medals with the United States national team in both the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest three-point shooters ever, with career averages of 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
