The Tennessee Titans are facing serious defensive issues as they prepare for their next divisional matchup. In what has become a familiar story for Titans fans, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed will once again be sidelined.
His ongoing quad injury has left a noticeable gap in the team’s secondary, just as a crucial game against the Houston Texans approaches. For the Titans, the timing of his absence couldn’t be worse.
Chiefs fans miss Sneed
However, amid this situation, L’Jarius Sneed shared a social media post that has sparked a lot of reactions among Kansas City Chiefs fans.
On Thursday, he posted a message saying, ” the journey…”. This phrase left open the possibility that, after Patrick Mahomes’ effort to keep him on the team, Sneed might be starting to miss his former family in Kansas City.
“Is he nostalgic about the Chiefs?” fans wondered as they reminisced about his time with the team. Some commented: “Come back home, please!!!”, while others said, “I wish you were still with the Chiefs, but I’m a big fan.”
One fan remarked: “Miss you in KC, but I know the Lord has a plan for you.”
L’Jarius left a significant mark on the Chiefs. In 2021, he played 15 games, starting all of them, recording 76 total tackles, two interceptions, a pick-six, and one forced fumble.
Mahomes’ efforts to keep Sneed around
His performance solidified him as a key part of the team’s defense. In 2022, he played all 17 games, tallying 108 tackles, three interceptions, and three forced fumbles. Overall, Sneed accumulated impressive stats that not only impressed fans but also his teammate Mahomes.
In fact, Mahomes did everything he could to keep Sneed with the Chiefs after the cornerback was traded to the Titans. In an interview with Fox4KC, Mahomes said, “I can’t make that call, but I know everyone on our team wants Sneed here.”
He also praised his former teammate, highlighting not just his skills on the field but his character: “He’s got this incredible drive every single day.” Mahomes emphasized that, although Sneed isn’t the loudest guy in the room, his work ethic makes him a true leader within the team.
With a $76 million contract with the Titans, Sneed begins a new chapter, but both he and Chiefs fans are hoping to see him return to his top form after his recovery.
