Manchester City’s third goalkeeper is kicked out of the celebration party!

Manchester City‘s third goalkeeper, Scott Carson, celebrated in style after winning the Premier League title on the last day of the season.

The 38-year-old goalkeeper was ejected by security from the traditional champions’ party, held at a Manchester nightclub, at around four in the morning. As reported by Mail Sport, for “attempting to fight with a fellow partygoer”.

Further details of the incident are not yet known. The party was attended by all members of the club along with their families.

Carson has been the Citizens’ reserve goalkeeper since 2019, when he joined the club from Derby County. He has since become one of the most beloved players in Pep Guardiola‘s side.

Ederson, a regular starter in the City goal, says that “he is an example of humility, a role model, he has an incredible personality”.

In the documentaries produced annually by the club about the inner workings of the team, the veteran goalkeeper is often highly praised by all his teammates.

Carson‘s role with City has been clear from day one. Being the third goalkeeper means not playing a single minute (in normal conditions), so his role is to help the young players and create a good atmosphere in the dressing room. Something Guardiola has always recognized him for:

“People may not know it, but he is a real leader. He says what he believes, he has a lot of experience with big teams. He’s an incredible person. Everybody loves him very much.”

107 minutes and 11 titles with Manchester City

Since his arrival in Manchester in the summer of 2019, the goalkeeper has played 107 minutes in total with the side.

His first and only game as a City starter was on May 14, 2021. Guardiola‘s side had already won the Premier League and qualified for the Champions League final against Chelsea.

There were still three league games left, so Pep wanted to let him play.

Carson played at St. James’ Park against Newcastle, with a 4-3 win for City, with Ferran Torres scoring a hat-trick.

The other 17 minutes played with City were in the Champions League. It was in a round of 16 second leg in 2022. After winning 5-0 against Sporting CP, the second match at the Etihad was a formality. With 0-0 on the scoreboard in the 73rd minute, Guardiola substituted Ederson for Carson to give him his debut with the Sky Blues in the top continental competition. The score remained unchanged.

During Carson’s five seasons at City, Pep’s side have won (so far) 11 titles. Among them four Premier Leagues, one Champions League, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one European Super Cup, one Club World Cup and one Community Shield.
