On the first day of NFL training camp, Patrick Mahomes posted a video that included all the best moments of his incredible offseason. It was amazing to see his parties with Travis Kelce and trips with wife Brittany Mahomes, but there was one glaring omission from the video that suggests Mahomes may have been showing some fake love all along.
What did Patrick Mahomes do this offseason?
The action-packed, 30-second Instagram video gave a speedy recap of the Super Bowl MVP‘s lavish offseason adventures, which were fitting of a $500 million man.
He went to Las Vegas with Travis Kelce, first to celebrate Super Bowl LVIII, and then for a golf tournament. He filmed new commercials for his huge portfolio of sponsors. He covered Time Magazine and met even Logan Paul in the ring for WWE action.
He attended many exclusive sporting events with Brittany, like Wimbledon, the Miami Grand Prix, and the Kansas City Current‘s first game in its new stadium the Mahomes family helped build. They also recently announced that she is pregnant with their third child.
No love for Luka
Perhaps it was no surprise that Mahomes left out his brief meeting with Lionel Messi, or the concerts his wife dragged him to. But the absence of one sports team from the video left a noticeable hole: the Dallas Mavericks.
During the Mavs’ run to the NBA Finals, Mahomes was spotted courtside several times at American Airlines Center, even bringing his Kansas City Chiefs teammates along. He dapped up Dallas star Luka Doncic after games, hyped up the crowd in big moments, and was chosen over Dallas athletes like Dak Prescott to record the Mavericks’ hype video for the NBA Finals.
Did Texas native Mahomes leave his “hometown” basketball team out of the video because of their embarrassing NBA Finals performance against the Boston Celtics? It’s hard to say for sure. Plenty of things he did in the offseason had to be cut out of the final 37-second video, but based on his energy for the Mavs all postseason, this was a shocking choice.
