Police called to investigate after Los Angeles Rams report stolen playbook

Los Angeles Rams offensive lineman Conor McDermott is in the spotlight for an unfortunate reason after his team-issued iPad was reportedly stolen from his car this week.

The device contained sensitive information, including the Rams’ playbook and game footage essential for player preparation.

The theft occurred in a residential area where McDermott‘s vehicle was parked. Local authorities are investigating the incident, although no arrests have been made as of now, according to TMZ.

McDermott has been a part of the NFL since 2017, playing for every team in the AFC East except the Miami Dolphins before joining the Rams.

His career spanned the Jets, Patriots, and Bills from 2017 to 2023. He signed with the Rams on August 6, but was placed on injured reserve just weeks later on August 28, which means he has yet to appear in a game this season.

Security measures are in place for such incidents

Despite the theft, it’s unlikely that the individual who stole McDermott’s iPad will gain any competitive advantage from the information it contained.

The Rams have the ability to remotely wipe the device’s memory, ensuring that sensitive strategies and future plans remain secure.

There is currently no evidence to suggest that rival NFL teams were involved in the theft or sought to exploit McDermott’s situation for insight into the Rams’ tactics.

On the field, the Rams are facing their own set of challenges this season. With a disappointing record of 1-4 as they head into their bye week, they currently sit near the bottom of the NFC standings, just above the Carolina Panthers. They are also among six NFL teams with only one victory, along with the Titans, Jaguars, Patriots, and Browns.

McDermott’s fame briefly surged in 2021 when he made a touchdown reception during a game for the Jets against the Jaguars-his only career catch to date.

As the Rams grapple with both on-field struggles and this off-field incident, McDermott looks forward to recovery and preparing for his eventual return to play.
