It has been a very interesting last couple of weeks for Russell Westbrook as his future was hanging on the balance. Now that he knows he won’t be in Los Angeles, things got emotional for him, his fans, followers and for all the Clippers staff members.

The arrival of Russell Westbrook to Denver is near to be confirmed, after the Utah Jazz and the Los Angeles Clippers reached an agreement to exchange the 35-year-old player who will be released by the Utah organization so that the Nuggets end up acquiring him for next season after clearing waivers.

The veteran player posted an emotional message on social media to thanks everyone involved in his daily activities once with the Clippers. “Thank you to Mr. Ballmer and the entire Clipper Organization for the opportunity. Clipper Nation, thank you! I had a lot of fun with you all, playing in the city I love in front of my family and friends. To all of my teammates, I thank y’all for embracing me and supporting me the past two years,” the letter reads.

“To ALL of MY fans! You guys don’t know how much your support means to me. Y’all keep me motivated and energized. I’ve got the most loyal and amazing fans in sports. Looking forward to seeing y’all next season!”

It’s time for a fresh start and a new challenge

According to the sources reporting the trade, the Clippers sent Russell Westbrook in a swap of second-round picks and cash to the Jazz, in addition to acquiring point guard Kris Dunn. Westbrook is coming off a difficult season, averaging 11.1 points per game, the lowest figure in his entire career, participating in 68 games with the Clippers.

Westbrook’s 2023-2024 campaign came off the bench, becoming a good sixth man on the court. Now he will be joining a team with players like Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr.
