Westbrook denies any drama involving Christian Braun

Earlier reports suggested that Westbrook had requested to wear his iconic No. 0, only to be denied by teammate Christian Braun.

However, Westbrook took to Instagram to clarify the situation, defending Braun and dispelling the rumors.

In his post, Westbrook made it clear that he never sought to reclaim his old number.

“Let’s please leave our young star alone,”Westbrook urged fans.

“CB and I never discussed him passing along the number 0. I didn’t want, inquire about, or request the number 0 because I chose to mark this new change with a ‘new’ number.”

The 35-year-old guard emphasized his excitement for the upcoming season and expressed disappointment in the spread of false information.

“The excitement of the new season has already begun, and unfortunately I know that means the offload of many false stories. Not today!” he added.

Westbrook and Braun, he assured fans, are “locked in and ready to get things rockin’ in the mile high city!”

Russell Westbrook will wear No. 4 jersey again

Westbrook, who signed a two-year, $6.77 million deal with the Nuggets this offseason, will instead be wearing No. 4, a number he previously sported during his stint with the Washington Wizards in the 2020-21 season.

His decision to embrace a new number symbolizes a fresh start in Denver, where he hopes to contribute to the team’s continued success.

While rumors initially suggested Braun had refused to give up his No. 0 jersey, reports later clarified that Westbrook’s inquiry into the number was more of a formality than a serious request.

Braun, who played a pivotal role in the Nuggets’ 2023 championship run, has cemented his place in Denver’s rotation, and his decision to keep his number was met with mixed reactions from fans.

Despite the initial buzz, Westbrook’s handling of the situation has helped quell any potential controversy, as he focuses on preparing for the upcoming season with his new team.

As Westbrook gears up for another chapter in his storied career, fans will be watching closely to see how he adapts to his new role with the Nuggets-and whether this new beginning could lead him to his first NBA championship.
