Steph Curry and the Warriors send a bittersweet message to Klay Thompson: “We’re still going to beat you”

Klay Thompson had an incredible run with the Golden State Warriors as part of the explosive duo known as the Splash Brothers alongside superstar Stephen Curry. Together they won four championships on six trips to the NBA Finals.

Thompson’s incredible shooting ability built a legacy in the Bay Area that would be remembered for ages and this Tuesday, the Los Angeles, California native returns to Chase Center to face his former team as member of the Dallas Mavericks.

Golden State Warriors entire team warns Klay Thompson that he’s gonna get beat on his return to San Francisco

For the special occasion, the Golden State Warriors shot a video thanking Thompson for his contribution to making the San Francisco team a great franchise… but that didn’t stop them from warning the former teammate that he’s gonna get beat.

“You are an icon in this franchise. Your statue will be outside Chase one day.” said head coach Steve Kerr in the video. “It’s an honor to play with you for 13 years. Always remember every memory we were able to creat as teammates and the Splash Brothers.” added Steph Curry.

Center Kevon Looney had a bittersweet message for Thompson, though. “You deserve to be celebrated. You’re a legend here, did a lot of great things for the Warriors, for me, but we still gotta beat you tonight.”

Guard Gary Payton II also thanked Thompson for everything he did for him “but unfortunately I got to kick your ass tonight.”

Klay Thompson’s incredible run with the Golden State Warriors

After 13 years, Klay Thompson (34) and the Golden State Warriors decided it was time to part ways this summer, largely influenced by Klay’s final game with the Warriors in last year’s play-in. Klay, the 11th overall pick of the Warriors in the 2011 NBA Draft, is now with the Dallas Mavericks.

Returning to the place he called home for 13 years naturally brings curiosity as to what will be going through Klay’s mind and emotions heading into the game. When asked by a reporter, “What are your initial feelings about returning to Golden State?” Klay’s answer shocked those in attendance and Warriors fans alike: “But to me, it’s just another regular season game in November; obviously there’s bigger implications with the NBA Championship.” You can judge his answer for yourself by watching the video.
