Klay Thompson‘s decision to sign for the Dallas Mavericks rather than stay with the Golden State Warriors is one that has caused shockwaves in the NBA world.
He has penned a lucrative three-year deal with the Mavs that will see him earn an incredible 50 million dollars, and he will be looking for salvation after a tough recent period.

During his Mavericks‘ introductory press conference, Klay Thompson detailed his mindset for coming to Dallas.
Why Thompson chose the Mavs
When asked about why he chose the Mavs, Thompson said: “Dallas was so attractive because of the young players they have, the style of play, the world-class treatment these players get from the organization, and a beautiful city that loves their hoops.”
It is clear that he holds some negative views of his former team which is not a great look for the Warriors, but he did try to temper the tone later on.
“I’m very grateful for my time at Golden State, but I just felt like moving on could just re-energize me and do something special for the rest of my career,” he said.
“Coming here is just such a fresh start and feeling wanted again, and I bring great value.”
Thompson had been reduced to something of a bench role with the Warriors which everyone knows is a waste of such a good player.
“I just saw myself fitting in well with this team and this personnel… They play for each other, and that’s all I needed to see. There was mutual interest, and that’s why I’m here,” he said.
