Sports journalism in Mexico is mourning the passing of long-time commentator for Televisa Deportes and TUDN networks, Paco Villa, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 54.
Villa worked for almost 30 years as a sports journalist and commentator, covering the world’s biggest events as part of Televisa, including World Cups, Olympic Games, UEFA Champions League, Eurocup, as well as NBA and NFL, among other events.

It was well known that Villa was a fan of Cruz Azul, who mourned his departure, but he was also a big fan of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, and according to Fox Sports’ Alberto Lati, a former teammate of Villa‘s at Televisa, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had a great gesture for the late commentator’s family.

Lati reveals that thanks to the efforts of TUDN and Televisa correspondent Francisco Villalobos, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wrote a letter of condolence to Paco Villa‘s family and gave them a football autographed by the team.
For several years, Villa was one of Televisa’s and TUDN’s most prominent broadcasters for more than two decades, with memorable narrations.
Villa started in 1997, with the sports chronicle. In 1999 he joined Televisa Radio and from there he made the leap to television, where he narrated Liga MX, Champions League, LaLiga, Club World Cups, Concachampions, Olympic Games and World Cups.
