Former NBA player Delonte West still in a lot of trouble: Arrested again in Virginia

Delonte West has found himself in hot water with law enforcement again after being arrested in Virginia.

The former NBA player was arrested in the 7200 block of Fairchild Drive in Groveton, Fairfax County. Police confirmed he was served a warrant for violating the conditions of his release and charged with resisting arrest.

West – who is still married to his second wife, Caressa, and has two children – is being held on bond. It follows a long history of offences dating back to 2009, where his professional basketball career first started to decline.

After starting out at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland, West went on to star at St. Joseph’s University. He had stints with the Boston Celtics, the Seattle SuperSonics before signing a three-year, $12.9million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But after being traded back to the Celtics in 2010, his career nosedived when he was suspended for the first ten games of the 2010-11 season following a guilty plea to weapons charges in Maryland.

He went on to sign for the Dallas Mavericks, before falling out of favor with the coaching staff and he was released in 2012. He also played overseas in China with Fuijan Xunxing and Shanghai Sharks before finishing his career with the Texas Sharks in 2015.

A turbulent time in West’s life

West has struggled to stay clear of trouble since his career ended, however, and found himself behind bars on multiple occasions.

In 2020, he was filmed being assaulted on a street in the Washington D.C area. He later checked into a rehab center by ex-Cavs owner Mark Cuban but was taken into custody for being drunk in public in Florida shortly after he was released from the facility.

He was also arrested in 2022 for vehicle trespassing, fleeing from law enforcement, and being drunk in public. In October 2022, West was arrested again in Fairfax County, Virginia, after being seen trying to enter a car that did not belong to him.

He was booked on four misdemeanor charges, and now appears to have violated the conditions of his probation.
