LeBron James found himself in an uncomfortable position as the Los Angeles Lakers prepared to face the Denver Nuggets in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. He got called “trash” right to his face before the series even began, but with the camera rolling, LeBron gave a response he wanted the whole world to see.
LeBron addresses GOAT status
When James gets challenged, he does not back down. The viral video, recorded by his son, Bryce James, showed that LeBron definitely has his own opinion on who is the Greatest of All Time.
“I’m GOAT bro. G.O.A.T. What are you talking about? Stop playing with me,” said the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
It took hate from his own son in the comfort of his own home for King James to feel the need to defend his legacy.
“You’re trash!” shouted Bryce, 16, spurring the strong reaction from his dad.
Playing in flip flops with a flat ball in the driveway, LeBron swished two straight shots as a response. They continued to talk trash to one another, and then LeBron finally shut it all down with a look toward Bryce that turned into a meme, followed by another made shot
“Using all your threes in the backyard before the game is insane,” a fan joked on Twitter/X in response to the wholesome video.
Lakers meet Nuggets with a lot on the line
When it comes to LeBron James versus Michael Jordan GOAT debates, another ring, would go a long way for the Lakers star. James has set all kinds of records with his high level of play in his 21st season, but even he admits he is running out of time in the NBA to win more championships.
To do that, the red-hot Lakers will have to get past Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets in the first round. LA has lost eight straight games to Denver, but coach Darvin Ham believes this time will be different with a healthy LeBron James-Anthony Davis duo.
The defending NBA champs are heavy favorites after sweeping the Lake Show in last year’s Western Conference Finals, but after seeing LeBron’s reaction to his son, they won’t dare to set off the GOAT.
