Steve Kerr reveals his plans for Warriors’ rookie Podziemski in his sophomore season

The Golden State Warriors ended their season in disappointing fashion as they were eliminated by the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Play-In Tournament, falling 118-94, and were left with questions about the future of the franchise, as it seems that some key players like Klay Thompson may be leaving during the offseason.

One bright spot for Steve Kerr’s team was the irruption of rookie shooting guard Brandin Podziemski, who will probably earn a nod in the NBA’s All-Rookie Teams and performed well enough to be a starter at some point in the season after coming off the bench most of the games.

Steve Kerr’s words for Podziemski

If Klay Thompson decides to part ways from Golden State, Kerr already has a plan for Podziemski’s sophomore season in the NBA, as he said during the final presser of the season for the Warriors.

Shooting is probably the easiest thing to improve. Especially when you already have a good touch and [Brandin Podziemski] shot 38% this year. But he wasn’t necessarily a shoot-first guy… He wants to make a play first.

During his rookie season, Podziemski averaged 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 0.8 steals in 26.6 minutes per game, starting 28 of the 74 games he played in the year.
