Tata Martino gives Leo Messi injury update: When will he play again?

Lionel Messi returned to training on Wednesday after suffering a muscle injury that kept him out of Inter Miami’s last few games.

With this, he is starting to work on his own to get over the discomfort he suffered in the hamstring of his right leg.

The captain of the Argentine national team tested out his leg with several movements in order to get back on the field as soon as possible.

Leo was accompanied by the physical trainer, dressed in his normal training uniform. His coach at Las Garzas, Tata Martino, said that La Pulga “is improving day by day”.

When will Messi return?

“He’s recovering, he’s been out on the pitch for a few days, he’s improving day by day so we’re keeping an eye on his progress. It’s still too early, we have to wait at least next week,” said Martino in regards to the chances of seeing Messi on the field on April 3 against Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals.

But before that match, Inter Miami face the New York Red Bulls. Martino, in the absence of his internationals, will have to make a number of changes.

“We knew we weren’t going to have the guys who were going to the national team, but we can still put together a competitive team,” he said. “We’re short, we’ll probably have to turn to the academy, but I’m sure we’ll be able to put together a competitive team.”
