After six seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, it seems that the fans have finally turned on Trae Young. And during the team’s loss to the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Play-In Tournament, even his teammate Dejounte Murray might have turned on him, too.
Near the end of the first half against the Bulls, Young shows no effort on defense and lets Coby White stroll by him. White finds Alex Caruso on a two-on-one and Caruso drills the three-pointer to make it a six-point lead.
Dejounte Murray gets upset with Trae Young
On the very next possession, Young attempts a behind-the-back pass to Murray in close proximity. Murray has to reach to try to corral the pass with under three seconds left, leading to the Bulls swarming him and the team being unable to get a shot off before the buzzer.
Murray looked visibly upset after the play, seemingly at Young for the pass that was given to him. The Hawks ended up losing by 15.
Following the game, Young was getting criticized heavily online by just about everyone.
It certainly sounds like Young could be on his way out of Atlanta this offseason. He’s under contract through 2026, so it will have to be by way of a trade.
