NBA is investigating Raptors’ Jontay Porter over suspicious betting activity

The NBA has launched a rigorous investigation into Raptors’ player Jontay Porter, following a string of suspicious activities that have been linked to a significant surge in betting activity during the games he has recently participated in with Toronto.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Brian Windhorst, and David Purdum, the NBA is investigating Porter’s participation in the games played on January 26 and March 20 after some irregularities raised questions about whether the player has some kind of involvement in these betting activities.

The games involving Porter

On January 26, during a game against the LA Clippers, Porter was projected to score 5.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. However, he exited early, playing just four minutes due to injury, resulting in the under hitting on all of the props after scoring no points with three rebounds and one assist.

There was also an over/under for Porter on 3-pointers at 0.5. DraftKings Sportsbook reported the day after that the under on Porter’s 3-pointers was the most profitable bet on any NBA player that night.

During a match against the Sacramento Kings on March 20, Porter participated for just three minutes before exiting because of an illness, as reported by the Raptors. He did not make any points, failed to make one shot, and secured two rebounds. His over/unders were set by sportsbooks at approximately 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds.

DraftKings SportsBooks announced in a press release the following day that Porter’s proposition bets were the highest revenue-generating category for the NBA games that night.
