The Netflix special, “The Roast of Tom Brady,” hosted by Kevin Hart, turned out to be a resounding success, filled with laughter and memorable moments.
The event, lasting over three hours, was attended by NFL greats such as Rob Gronkowski,Julian Edelman, Randy Moss, and Drew Bledsoe, ensuring an evening replete with sports legends and humor.
One particular incident during the roast, however, captured widespread attention. After sharing a drink with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, Gronkowski, known for his exuberant personality, turned around and spiked his shot glass onto the floor, mimicking his iconic touchdown celebration.
While the crowd initially passed off the act as typical “Gronk behavior,” it turned out to have unintended consequences.
Comedian Andrew Schulz, who also featured as one of the roasters, shared a different view of the incident on his podcast, Flagrant. According to Schulz, Gronkowski‘s act of spiking the shot glass resulted in a painful mishap, as it injured a young woman sitting in the front row.
“He took the shot,” Schulz said.
“He wasn’t even included in it. The shot was about Tom Brady, Belichick, Bob Kraft. He takes it and he has so much energy he doesn’t know what to do.
“He slams it. All of us are like ‘what the f**k has happened?'”
“A girl in the front row has like a piece of shotglass like hanging out of her. I’m not talking about a little thing. Her whole cheek is red. She looks like a mime.”
